On July 19th, 2023 after adventuring on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, Kalin took me to the Gibson Steps. The Gibson Steps are an 86-step staircase to the beach near the 12 apostles. As we got closer to the bottom of the staircase, I noticed a photographer and I thought to myself "wouldn't it be amazing if Kalin were to propose on the beach here?" However, the photographer packed up her belongings and left. I thought to myself "oh, well" and I asked Kalin to go to the edge of the beach with me and take a selfie. Once the selfie was taken, Kalin said "put your phone away" and as I did, he said "Lindsay, you have been a good girl, and you have waited long enough, Lindsay Victoria Schlueter, will you marry me?" honestly, I know there were more words that he said but I was filled with adrenaline and happy tears. I started to ugly cry as I said "yes I will marry you" and I looked to my right and there was a camera in my face. At first I thought to myself "why does a random bystander have this camera in my face?" Then it became apparent that he had hired a photographer to capture this moment. It felt like an absolute dream to be on a beautiful beach in Australia with an Australian photographer capturing the details of a day we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for us as husband and wife.
